How P-2-P Works

Application and Selection
Interested students submit completed application plus writing sample. 10 exceptional students are chosen.

Project Selection
Students decide the subject and genre of their book and submit to staff and publisher-partners for approval. All parties collectively discuss and move forward.

Schedule
A plan and timeline is finalized, which will include a set amount of time to focus on each aspect of publishing a book.

Pre-production/Production
Students write, revise, share and edit one another’s work. Students read, discuss and respond to published work and criticism in their selected genre. Publisher-partner provides support by inviting authors, editors and jounralists to meet with students. Distance learning mini-workshops begin.

Post-Production
Distance learning mini-workshops continue. Students conduct formal presentations of publicity, marketing, art and design, as well as sales and distribution ideas. Publishing-partner provides graphic, book interior and web designers, as well as marketing/PR reps. Students, publishing-partner and P-2-P select strategies for the publication and distribution of book. P-2-P and students set up readings and signings.

Public Relations
Students begin a hands-on involvement with marketing of their product, with both traditional and online targets, as well as creative design and guerilla marketing initiatives.

Publication
Book release event. Signings and readings to promote and publicize publication. Public speaking lessons by authors to build the confidence of students, as well as their ability to discuss the content of their book.

Post Mortem
A final review with P-2-P, publishing-partners and the school to gauge the success and improve the process for subsequent engagements.
